10Years Old!

Can you believe it? A decade. Unreal.

CELEBRATING 10 YEARS OF DESIGN EXCELLENCE!

It's been a decade of creativity, innovation, and growth since our journey began in 2014! As we mark our 10th anniversary, we're thrilled to introduce our newly rebranded Digital Design Course.

Tailored especially for the UX Industry but mindful of the knowledge of applicants. We've transformed to embrace all aspects of digital creativity, ensuring that everyone, from tech enthusiasts to budding designers, feels at home.🚀✨

How did we get here? Mon, let me tell you...

IT STARTS WITH A WEE STORY

At the Start of the decade (early 2010s) Designers at the Belfast School of Art had a vision for a course focused around User Experience a burgeoning area of the design discipline.

Paul McCormack (in our current teaching team) along with Chris Murphy and Tim Potter from Little Thunder set about designing a course that would focus on User Interfaces, Content Design, Design History, Web Design, Entrepreneurship, Imaging and Data Visualisation and User Experience Design and Research. Just as Don Norman intended.

IxD Belfast was born.

But we had to change.

TIME TO EVOLVE FOR THE NEXT DECADE

The discipline of Interaction Design evolves constantly and we felt that we needed to refresh the course content to be even more UX focused but with a future leaning focus. As of 2024 we have updated the course to include, VR, AR and Mixed Realities, Playful Interactions to explore future design and a professional practice. We are design focused but entrepreurial in outlook.

We also considered our name. We love the name Interaction Design and our course at its very heart is still this discipline. But for applicants coming from school and further education, they simply did not understand the name. They are much more comfortable with 'Digital Design', so it was decided to change. But a change for the better. A change for the future.

Thats our story

We are excited for the future and to create the next cohort of designers, the game changes, the disrupters.
